Maternity Clothes

All you mommies out there - I want your advice! What did you guys do about maternity clothes? How much did you buy? Where did you get it from? Has anyone bought any maternity clothes from ksl.com/craigslist/ebay? I am trying to debate on how much I want to purchase and the cheapest way to get it. I have a lot of clothes that are too big for me, so I have been planning on using those most of the time. I guess I am mostly worried about shirts that are flattering to a prego belly. Thanks in advance for your advice!

I got most of mine at Motherhood Maternity. I love that store. They have a pretty good clearance section. I don't recommend getting any shirts from Old Navy....the belly was never big enough at the very end.

My biggest advice is to find some COMFY pants, and then just 2 or 3 shirts that go with them. You will feel like you're wearing the same thing all the time towards the end....and you will be. But when it's over, you will be SO glad you didn't spend very much. Try to find comfy maternity sweats or lounge pants....you'll live in them after the baby comes, atleast for the first several weeks!

Also....another word of advice if you plan on nursing (well, I have LOTS of words about nursing, but here's just one....) if you plan on nursing, go to Motherhood Maternity for your nursing bras. With Cameron, I just sent my mom to the store after he was born, and she had to buy a zillion different sizes and styles and return them if they didn't fit...it was a mess. It took a few weeks to finally have several bras that fit well. With Allie, I went to Motherhood when I was about 37 weeks, and they helped a TON. They showed me all different styles and helped with sizing....their prices are reasonable, and trust me, you'll want good nursing bras! :)
Sorry, I'll stop now! Good luck!!

Check out shopko...they have some shirts on a steep discount right now...they are summer, but they will probably work for you. If you get shirts, you can switch up your outfits. Good luck!

I did a lot of Old Navy and Motherhood shirts, but the only maternity pants that ever fit me right were from Gap maternity. Expensive, but it was so worth it to finally have some that actually fit and that I wasn't pulling up constantly. I'm sure everyone's different, but shop around and find what works for you. There's also a lot of stretchy, or loose regular tops out there that will work just fine for maternity, so be open minded. I loved the Shade t-shirts from Costco for just lounging around. They come in a three pack for pretty cheap and I just bought a size above my normal size and they stretch. Good luck. It's hard your first pregnancy to buy enough to have a good variety, but also stay on a budget! Borrow, if you have anyone who will loan to you.

I bought most of mine at Macy's because they carry Motherhood Maternity and have good markdowns. I would buy 2 or 3 pairs of pants and some shirts. When you buy the pants, I highly recommend the full panel pants they are super comfy and don't fall off. I was constantly tugging at the one's with the bands. As far as the shirts go, this round I wore mostly my own shirts because they fit and are long enough to cover the belly.

Shopko and Motherhood Maternity- also, feel free to get some clothes online. If you end up not liking them, they can be lounge around the house clothes.

I totally hit up Target and Old Navy. I would buy a couple pairs of jeans and some nice stretchy dressier pant. You won't need a lot of them. Shirts I would wait to buy until you are out of clothes that fit. Don't stretch out your good shirts but I didn't want to buy 100000 shirts. Buy long tank tops so that when your shirts start to creep up you still have a longer layer. buy good nursing bras. they are worth the money. If you don't you will probably spend the next year wishing you had Totally work the thanksgiving sales and buy big so when you get to the end you still have things to wear.

p.s. wait to buy your bras till after your milk comes in so that you don't end up buying multiple sets

I loved Down East online for shirts, they strech and show that cute tummy. Old Navy had really cute dresses and I got most on Clearance. And before you have to buy Nursing bra's and if your bra's are getting tight, you can get a bra extender at A pea in the pod Maternity for $4. It saved my life!! Good Luck.

I borrowed most of my clothes from friends, but I have shopped at Old Navy and Target. Target usually has some pretty cute maternity clothes. Sometimes you can find some really cute stuff in the clearance section at Old Navy! I would buy bras from Motherhood.
